The Richland County Coroner's Office has released the name of a person who was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Interstate 26 on Thursday. Brittany Kaie-Ashanti Booker, 18, of Columbia, was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle that crashed on I-126 near exit 108A around 11:35 a.m. Thursday, Coroner Gary Watts said. The driver was attempting to get onto the Columbia downtown exit off of I-26 westbound and lost control of the vehicle, Watts said.The vehicle left the roadway and overturned, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle, he said. Booker was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. An autopsy conducted Friday showed Booker died from trauma associated with the crash, according to the coroner's office. The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate.
