One Person Injured in Shooting Near Atlas Road

A woman was shot Saturday afternoon after a verbal altercation with two males turned violent, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's department spokesman Curtis Wilson said deputies responded to a aggravated assault call just before 6 p.m. in the 1900 block of Joe Frazier Court, which is off of Atlas Road. 

Two females were sitting in a parked vehicle when two males fired multiple shots at the vehicle, Wilson said. 

The victim attempted to drive away and more shots were fired, he said.

One female was shot in the upper body and was driven to Palmetto Health Richland by the other female, Wilson said. 

Her condition is unknown.

Deputies determined the shooting was a result of a verbal altercation that occurred earlier in the the day.
