Police Arrest 1 in Gonzales Gardens Melee

Richland County Sheriff's deputies arrested a woman who they say was involved in the beating of two teens in the Gonzales Gardens in May.

Teshambra Kelly, 23, is charged with two counts of assault and battery.

The fight, which was recorded on a cell phone camera and posted to Youtube, happened between 3 p.m. May 16 and 2 p.m. May 17 at the apartments located in the 1500 block of Garden Plaza in Columbia.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department was notified about the fight after students at Keenan High School told a school resource officer about it, according to a release.

In the video (see attached), several women can be seen fighting two girls, ages 14 and 16. During the brawl, women are seen punching and kicking the teens while others are standing around watching the fight or yelling. The women suspected of fighting the teens are between the ages of 14-49.

According to the sheriff's department, the 14-year-old victim was 8 1/2 weeks pregnant at the time of the fight.

The brawl stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim and the suspects, according to a release.

Deputies are searching for two other suspects in the fight: Sonia Jacobs, 46, and Melquana Singletary, 17. Jacobs is wanted for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of assault and battery. Singletary will be charged with three counts of assault and battery.

Deputies also have petitions for two juveniles they say were involved in the fight.
