Report: Court Rules Gambler Can Sue 2 Columbia Businesses for Poker Losses

The Court of Appeals ruled that a gambler can sue the gambling business to recoup losses, according to a report from The State.

The S.C. Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of a woman trying to recover more than $700,000 she claims she lost from playing video poker at two Columbia restaurants.

Lauren Proctor, an admitted compulsive gambler, can proceed with a lawsuit against Pizza Man and Rockaways Athletic Club, according to a report from The State. 

The Court of Appeals ruled that a gambler can sue the gambling business to recoup losses, the report said.

Proctor gambled at the two businesses from 1999 to 2005, losing between $1,000 and $5,000 a week.
