Report: Richland 1's W.A. Perry Middle Off List of Lowest-Performing Schools

W.A. Perry Middle School in Richland School District 1 made enough improvement to be removed from a list of South Carolina's lowest-performing schools, according to a report from The State.

W.A. Perry was included in the state's Palmetto Priority Schools program, which is a collaborative initiative between the State Department of Education and schools that failed to "meet the expected progress on student achievement required by the Education Accountability Act."

Former State Superintendent Jim Rex created the initiative as an alternative to the state taking over a school.

W.A. Perry Middle was removed from the list based on the school's improvement on its 2011-2012 report card ratings.
