Columbia’s St. Anna’s Park was recently refurbished thanks to a $15,000 grant through the national Sprite Spark Parks Project.
City officials along with representatives from the Coca-Cola Company and Piggly Wiggly held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday.
Renovations included new asphalt surfaces on courts, new basketball goals, restriping of half and full court lines, and regrading and repositioning the full court in order to accommodate a future walking trail at the park, according to a release.
The city also added new playground equipment; benches, a water fountain and fencing; and trees have been planted with funds from Community Block Development Grants.
Additional improvements are scheduled to take place at the park -- which is located at 1313 Liberty Hill Avenue -- in 2013, according to the release.
