A Richland County Sheriff's Department deputy was recently recognized for his service as a school resource officer.
Senior deputy Terrence Acox was presented with the “Midlands Regional Award” and named “School Resource Officer of the Year” for the state during the 13th Annual South Carolina Association of School Resource Officer's Conference held this week inMyrtle Beach, Sheriff Leon Lott announced.
The annual award recognizes the school resource officer exhibiting outstanding performance, student oriented enhancement, school violence prevention, and community support, according to a release.

Acox has been with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department for almost six years and is assigned to Lower Richland High School.
Sheriff Leon Lott said, "Terrance is extremely professional, dedicated and committed to his job in our schools and communities. Senior Deputy Acox is a strong role model to the students and provides services to the school and community above and beyond what is expected of his position."
