- Love RV camping? You're in luck - soon you'll have a spot in the Midlands to park your campers and enjoy the outdoors! Big Rig Friendly RV Resort is set to open in West Columbia this spring approximately one mile from the State Farmers Market at 336 Gardners Terrace Rd. Owners Bill McLeod and D Melton are looking forward to opening for campers by March or early April after working on this project for nearly two years. (ColaDaily.com)
- A new coffee shop franchise location is set to bring jobs to individuals with disabilities in Columbia. Bitty and Beau’s Coffee is coming soon to the Midlands and will provide job opportunities to residents with disabilities. "The shop is inspired and named after our two youngest children, Bitty and Beau, who both have Down syndrome," said Amy Wright, co-founder and CEO. "For people to see people with disabilities in the workplace and normalize that and hopefully inspire other businesses to hire people with disabilities." (ColaDaily.com)
- West Columbia residents, Sybil and Ralph Jarrells, recently received the “Humanitarian Award” by the Royal Society of St. George. The Jarrells were each recognized for their work in Romania, Togo West Africa, Uganda, India, and Belize. (Columbia Star)
