Biggest Issue Facing District 1: Reducing federal spending.
Grooms Solution:
I support The Penny Plan, also known as The One Cent Solution (www.onecentsolution.org). The plan reduces spending by just one percent per year for 6 years, and then caps federal spending at 18% of federal income. After 6 years of reductions we have a balanced budget.
2nd Biggest Issue Facing District 1: Cutting job destroying federal regulations and laws.
Grooms Solution:
As an entrepreneur, I know firsthand how an overreaching federal government can prevent job growth and hurt our economy. Obamacare is just one example. I introduced a bill in the SC Senate to make Obamacare illegal and I will continue to fight any and all regulations and laws that stifle job growth.
3rd Biggest Issue Facing District 1: Protecting the 2nd Amendment.
Grooms Solution:
I am rated A+ by the NRA with a 100% voting record. I also introduced the Firearms Liberty Act, making firearms manufactured and purchased here in South Carolina exempt from unconstitutional federal laws, while making it illegal in South Carolina to enforce laws that violate the Second Amendment through presidential executive orders. I will never waver in my commitment to protecting a citizen’s right to keep and bear arms.
Why are you the best person to represent District 1 in Washington, DC?
I have been serving the good people of South Carolina in the State Senate for 15 years. At my core, I am an entrepreneur and job creator. I understand how the burden of too much government regulation and over taxation stifles economic growth. I believe that my experience as a businessman, combined with my experience as a State Senator make me uniquely qualified to represent the people of the 1st Congressional District.
