SC1: Jonathan Hoffman Endorsed By Former PA Gov. Tom Ridge
Perhaps the biggest endorsement of the race so far.

Jonathan Hoffman, a Republican candidate for the First Congressional District seat, has been endorsed by former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.
Ridge was the governor of Pennsylvania from 1995-2001 and was the first Secretary of Homeland Security from 2003-2005. He also served in the US House of Representatives for 12 years. Ridge released the following statement to supporters:
"I am proud to support Jonathan Hoffman in the Republican Primary for South Carolina’s First Congressional District. Our nation needs principled leaders like Jonathan who can exercise discerning judgment, and take decisive action to get things done in Washington.

“As a homeland security expert and Air Force reservist, Jonathan brings a very important perspective for honoring our retired veterans and military families and advancing policies to secure our nation. I appreciate his service to our country and his passion for fiscal and immigration reform. Jonathan is prepared to quickly get to work because he not only understands the issues but in many cases worked on the policies themselves.
“There is no substitute in Washington for integrity, candor, and initiative. Jonathan Hoffman personifies all of these characteristics and I am confident the people of South Carolina will be well-served by his leadership.”

Hoffman served in the Department of Homeland Security as part of George W. Bush's administration. He is a small business owner and an adjunct professor.
A relative unknown, the endorsement from a national figure the stature of Ridge could be just the jolt the Hoffman campaign needs.
