SC1 Turns Ugly: Teddy Turner 'Flabbergasted' By Kuhn Mailer
The former State Senator bashes Turner personally, professionally and politically.
Apparently Mark Sanford isn't the only GOP candidate John Kuhn has in his sights. In recent public appearances, Kuhn has told audiences that he has never been unfaithful to his wife. Nor did he ever intend to be unfaithful to her. A none-too-subtle reference to the former governor.
Now, Kuhn has moved to Teddy Turner. In a mailer received by voters on Friday and "Paid For by Kuhn for Congress," Turner is questioned on several fronts.
The mailer challenges the validity of Turner's claims of being a high school teacher, fiscally conservative, pro-life, business friendly, having Republican values and being conservative.

The literature (attached) shows a picture of Turner wedged between his former stepmother Jane Fonda and Pres. Obama, though the three were clearly not in the same picture nor even in the same place at the same time. But the representation is meant to question where Turner's true loyalties are.
On the flip side of the mailer, it is implied that because Teddy Turner has a spot on the board of his father Ted's non-profit foundation, he supports the recipients of its donations, which include Planned Parenthood. The Planned Parenthood logo is strategically placed next to a picture of Teddy Turner.

Turner has often reminded voters in SC1 that he is not Jane Fonda's son, nor does he share his father's political views. He has made that clear in numerous interviews.
A video that misrepresented Turner's views on minorities is also referenced. The video was leaked to the media and quickly removed when its authenticity was questioned. Despite that, the mailer from the Kuhn campaign says Turner "admits to having trouble relating to minorities."
Patch contacted Turner for his response and he said, "I'm flabbergasted. But I guess I shouldn't be, because this is the sort of thing that career politicians do," he said.
Turner said the attack was disappointing on a number of levels, but notably because he and Kuhn's wives and daughters have been friends for years. "It's a desperate move by a desperate candidate," Turner said. "Unfortunately, my family will suffer for this because they will hear about it."
Turner also was upset with the mailer's implication that he teaches only for the money. "I work and spend time with young people because I want to help them have better lives. To respond to the things (Kuhn) is saying is to give them a credit they don't deserve."
Election Day is March 19.
