Sen. Lindsey Graham Calls for Enforcement of Existing Gun Laws
At a Washington, DC press conference on Wednesday Graham said the mentally ill need to be prevented from getting access to firearms.
The day after President Obama said in his State of the Union address that victims of the Newtown tragedy "deserve a vote" on gun control, Sen. Lindsey Graham held a press conference discussing problems with existing laws.
Graham described the case of Alice Boland, who was arrested last week after pointing a gun at an Ashley Hall school employee. According to Graham, Boland was arrested in 2005 after threatening then-President George W. Bush and members of Congress, but was still able to pass a background check and obtain a weapon.
Graham said he plans to introduce legislation that would make it more difficult people with a history of mental illness and called on Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to be more vigilant in enforcing laws already on the books.
