SPEAK OUT: Do you Support the HPV Vaccine?
Vaccine receives bi-partisan support today from Rep. Bakari Sellers and former First Lady Jenny Sanford.

On Monday afternoon Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-90) and former SC First Lady Jenny Sanford held a press conference on the campus of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center to announce a bill that would offer the HPV vaccine to South Carolina children entering seventh grade.
Last year, the General Assembly passed legislation that would have put a vaccine plan in place but Gov. Nikki Haley vetoed it.
The vaccine has been shown to prevent cancer. Contraction of HPV is often tied to sexual activity and critics of the vaccine say it promotes promiscuity.
