Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Richland County

A Richland County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed a suspect Monday night during a police chase near Percival Road.
A deputy attempted to stop a "suspicious vehicle" near Woodfield Park around 10 p.m. but the suspect doesn't stop for the blue lights, sheriff's department spokesman Curtis Wilson said.
A short chase ensued. The unidentified suspect drove his vehicle down Faraway Drive to East Boundary Road before jumping out of the vehicle and firing shots at the deputy, according to a report from The State.
The deputy returned fire, striking the suspect.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating, Wilson said.
During a news conference Tuesday, Sheriff Leon Lott said the shooting was "justifiable," according to a report from The State.
