This Week's Traffic Advisories for Lexington and Richland Counties

Construction-related traffic delays in the Midlands for the week of Sep. 23.

From the South Carolina Department of Transportation:

  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations for lane closures on Interstate 26, East Bound, at Mile Marker 111 to Mile Marker 111.5 for installing a new conduit on the bridge. Work should commence September 24, 2012 at 7:00 PM and conclude September 25, 2012 at 7:00 AM.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations for lane closures on Interstate 26, East Bound, at Mile Marker 113 to Mile Marker 113.5 for installing a new conduit on the bridge. Work should commence September 25, 2012 at 7:00 PM and conclude September 26, 2012 at 7:00 AM.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations for lane closures on Interstate 26, East Bound, at Mile Marker 114.5 to Mile Marker 115 for installing a new conduit on the bridge. Work should commence September 27, 2012 at 7:00 PM and conclude September 28, 2012 at 7:00 AM.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations for lane closures for an intersection improvement at Barr Road and Persimmon Lane in Lexington County. Work is expected to be complete by November 2012.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Calks Ferry Road between US-1 and US-378 in Lexington County while the road is being reconstructed.  Anticipated completion date of this work is November 30, 2012.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Old Lexington Road between US-378 and Rock-N-Creek Road in Lexington County while the road is being reconstructed. Anticipated completion date of this work is November 30, 2012.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Two Notch Road between Pond Branch Road and Perry Taylor Road in Lexington County while the road is being reconstructed.  Anticipated completion date of this work is November 30, 2012.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Calks Ferry Road between Nazareth Road and Elbert Taylor Road in Lexington County while the road is being reconstructed.  Anticipated completion date of this work is November 30, 2012.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Nazareth Road between SC-6 and Longs Pond Road Lexington County while the road is being reconstructed.  Anticipated completion date of this work is November 30, 2012.
  • Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Broad River Road from Greystone Boulevard to Lucious Road in Richland County for the replacement of the bridge over the Broad River.  This project will require reducing traffic to one lane in each direction.  The expected completion date for the project is May 2013.
  • Expect minor delays for road widening construction on Platt Springs Road (SC 602) taking place between S-168 and Old Orangeburg Road. Expected completion date is May, 2013.
  • Expect possible delays and flagging operations for clearing, grading, bridge construction, and asphalt paving activities along the west side of US 601 from near SC 48 (Bluff Rd.) to +/- 1500’ south of the Congaree River bridge (Approx. 4.2 miles). Please note that the entire 4.2 mile construction zone will be marked as a no passing zone and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH. The anticipated completion date is June 30, 2013.
  • Overpond Road (S 40-1922) is closed from Springpond Road (S 40-1724) to Pinelake Road (S 40– 2597) beginning October 10, 2011 due to shoulder failure on pond dam. The road will be closed to thru traffic until further notice or the pond dam has been repaired. A traffic detour has been implemented.
