Conway-area man killed in weekend house fire (postandcourier.com) — Emergency crews in Conway responded Sunday morning to a house fire on Oak Street that claimed the life of 51-year-old Christopher Oliver and heavily damaged his home. The Conway Fire Department helped contain the blaze and briefly closed part of Oak Street, while Horry County Fire Rescue continues investigating what caused the deadly fire.
   

2. Is a Hallmark Christmas movie being filmed in Horry County? Here's what we know (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Film crews have been shooting a Hallmark Christmas movie called “Christmas Persuasion” in downtown Conway, where locals have even been recruited as extras. While Hallmark hasn’t officially confirmed the project, signs, sets, and ongoing filming around Conway’s decorated downtown strongly suggest the city is starring in its third holiday movie, again showcasing its small-town Christmas charm.
   

3. Groundbreaking held for Rural Rally home build in Horry Co. (wpde.com) — A new Habitat for Humanity home is being built in Conway for a local health care worker and her three children as part of a nationwide Rural Rally initiative. The Horry County project, tied to the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter work effort, aims to boost affordable housing and bring some hope to the community heading into the Christmas season.
   

4. 'It won't be the same without Donzelle's': A beloved Conway diner is closing after 63 years (postandcourier.com) — A Conway staple is closing its doors: Donzelle’s Restaurant on North Main Street will serve its last meals on Dec. 24 after 63 years, because the family couldn’t secure a new lease. Generations of Conway regulars are stopping by for emotional final visits, sharing memories of comfort food, community, and the friendships forged in the tiny country-cooking diner.
   

5. One storyline to watch in each MAC 2025 bowl game (hustlebelt.com) — Conway will host the Myrtle Beach Bowl at Brooks Stadium, featuring MAC champion Western Michigan against Conference USA champion Kennesaw State on Friday, Dec. 19. The game, played on Coastal Carolina’s teal turf and aired on ESPN, brings national college football attention and visiting fans to the city, adding energy and tourism dollars during bowl season.
