April is National Poetry Month and in celebration, poets of all ages are invited to submit an original poem to the Pickens County Library System’s Poetry Contest.
This year there will be three categories: children (up to age 10), teens (ages 11-17), and adults (ages 18 and up). Chris Benson of the Clemson University English Department will select one winner from each category.
Entries will be accepted from March 1 to April 1 and can be turned in at any library branch. Only one entry per
person is permitted. Entries may be no longer than one page, but can be composed in any form (free verse, rhymed verse, limerick, sonnet, haiku, etc.).
Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. April 13 at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley.
Each entry MUST include the author’s name, age, and contact information (phone number, address, and/or email
address).
