Baseball, Fresh Food and Beach Music

Lots going on this weekend in Easley and Pickens County.

Here's a sampling of what's going on this weekend, from action on the baseball diamond to dancing in Pickens.

The Big League World Series continues in Easley at the J.B. “Red” Owens Recreation Complex.

The games begin at 11am today, Friday, July 26, as Mexico takes on Europe-Africa on Field One.

At 4pm, it's Southwest vs. East on Field 1 and Canada vs. Latin America on Field 3.

The action continues Friday evening with two games at 7:30pm – West vs. Southeast on Field 1 and SC Distict 1 vs. Central on Field 3.

On Saturday, Europe-Africa and Canada will be up and at 'em early, playing on Field 1 at 9am.

Asia-Pacific and Latin America face off at 11:30am on Field 1.

Field 1 will host the game between Central and West at 2pm.

The area's own SC District 1 Host Team takes on Southeast at 7:30pm Saturday night.

Games kick off 1:30pm Sunday, July 28 as SC District 1 plays West on Field 1.

Asia Pacific plays Mexico on Field 1 at 4:30pm.

Europe-Africa and Latin America round out the day's game, facing off at 7:30pm Sunday on Field 1.

The Easley Farmers Market opens at 8am Saturday morning and will be open until noon.

The full lineup of vendors isn't out yet, but you can expect fresh vegetables, great breads, desserts, dog treats, plants, flowers, crafts, peaches, honey, hot sauces, salsas, jams, jellies, chow chow, and lots more.

Farmers Market Manager Lisa Garrett says the market will also feature fresh SC shrimp and a cooking demo Saturday.

Take off your shopping shoes and put on your dancing shoes – The Tams are playing in Pickens Saturday night.

The Azalea Festival Committee is bringing the beach music legends back to play in Pickens, after their festival performance got rained out.

A cruise in will be held on West Main Street between N. Catherine and Highway 178. The cruise-in will start around 4pm.

Rock and Roll Reunion are slated to perform at 6pm at the amphitheater on W. Main Street and the Tams will take the stage at 8pm. The cruise-in and concerts are free. The festivities will conclude with a fireworks show over Pickens.
