Children's Book Author Visits West End Elementary School
Grade level writing winners enjoy lunch with "Snow Day" author.
West End Elementary recently hosted renowned children’s book author Lester Laminack.
Mr. Laminack is a former professor at Western Carolina University, but now enjoys writing and presenting at schools full time.

Students at West End were treated to a presentation by Mr. Laminack where he shared a few of his books in a fun and engaging way. During this presentation, he took students on a journey with him as an author, from being a “secret spy” with his “spy notebook” to publishing.
As a treat, the students who were deemed grade level writing winners enjoyed lunch with Mr. Laminack. After school, Mr. Laminack shared with teachers and staff ways to incorporate reading and writing into the new Common Core State Standards.
