Clemson University President James Barker plans to return to teaching

After 14 years of leading Clemson University, President James Barker has announced he'll be stepping down.
Fox Carolina reports that Barker delivered a video message to students Tuesday about his plans to step down.
Barker returned to work earlier this month after recuperating from emergency heart surgery he underwent in January to bypass five blockages in his heart.Â

He told students that while he feels he is good health, it's time to hand off leadership of Clemson to someone else.
Barker began serving as president in 1999.

He plans to return to teaching but will remain on as president until the university's Board of Trustees picks his replacement.Â
