District Employees Taking On New Roles

Danny Barrett named new Director of Operations. Janice Ward named new Coordinator of Secondary Education

Two school district employees will be stepping into new leadership roles in the coming year. Danny Barrett will be the new Director of Operations and AITS Special Projects, and Janice Ward has been chosen as the new Coordinator of Secondary Education. Barrett currently oversees the technology installation projects as the district’s E-Learning Specialist, and Ward is an assistant principal at Daniel High School.

Barrett comes to the position with 35 years of experience in technology design, installation and maintenance at South Carolina ETV and the school district. He will manage building maintenance, grounds maintenance and technology installation in his new role.

“I would like to express my appreciation to Dr. Pew and the School Board for the offer of Director of Operations and AITS Special Projects,” Barrett said. “I look forward to working with the entire Operations and AITS staff as we continue to meet the needs of the Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students.”

Ward will step into her new role in June, providing instructional support to middle and high schools.

“We are thrilled to have Janice Ward join the Instructional Services team. She has served as an instructional leader throughout her career,” said Sharon Huff, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services. “Her knowledge of both middle and high school curriculum will allow us support our secondary administrators and teachers as we work toward accomplishing the district's instructional goals.”

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to join our Instructional Services team, and I look forward to working with our principals and teachers as we continue our focus on student achievement and on preparing our students to be successful both in and beyond the classroom,” Ward said.
