Congressman Jeff Duncan to speak at Pickens County Taxpayers Association meeting April 29

Congressman Jeff Duncan will speak on “Your Money, Guns and Freedom” at the next meeting of the Pickens County Taxpayers Association, Monday, April 29.

The meeting will be held 7pm Monday, April 29 at the Farm Bureau on Highway 178, 2.5 miles of south of Pickens.

PCTA President Dennis Reinert said Duncan will speak on the “deadly policy of the federal government.”

“The Justice Department bludgeoned federally licensed firearms deals in the southwest to sell over 2,500 to people cooperating with Mexican drug cartels,” Reinert said.

Duncan will also discuss new federal gun legislation.

Reinert said new gun legislation “will subject those transferring firearms to a federal prison sentence if a mistake if made.”

“Upon arrest for a federal firearms offense you have all your guns confiscated,” Reinert said. “If no charges are filed or you are found innocent you will have to pay a lawyer to sue to get your guns back – mostly likely rusted and dented.

"A conviction means you lose the right to own or possess any firearm, the right to vote, to serve on a jury, hold a large number of jobs or get a job and large legal fees," he continued. "If you go to prison, you will lose all you own and contact with your family will be diminished.”

Other topics covered at the meeting include “the EPA and its destructive effects on you,” Common Core and its impact on education and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

“These regulations increase the cost of everything,” Reinert said.

The association will also discuss the school board's recent decision to alter its invocation policy at board meetings to allow non-sectarian prayer.

“Our religious liberty is being taken away,” Reinert said.
