Elizabeth Colbert-Busch To Speak at Clemson September 11

Colbert-Busch will talk to students about her decision to run for office, the challenges of the campaign and her vision for creating change in Washington.

Former congressional candidate Elizabeth Colbert-Busch will kick off Clemson University’s Women’s Leadership speaker series “Stepping Up to Leadership” with a talk at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Strom Thurmond Institute.

She will talk with students about her decision to run for office, the challenges of the campaign and her vision for creating change in Washington.

Colbert-Busch is director of business development for the Clemson University Restoration Institute. She is responsible for the institute’s strategic planning, business development, marketing, sales and economic development. Previously, Colbert-Busch was director of sales and marketing for one of the top 10 ocean carriers in the world: Orient Overseas Container Line Inc.

Colbert-Busch was named chairwoman for the Maritime Association of South Carolina and the S.C. International Trade Conference. She sits on the Brookings Institute’s Advisory Council on Exports and the World Trade Center Charleston at the Metro Chamber of Commerce. She was named Woman of the Year by the prestigious Charleston Women in International Trade and one of the Top 20 Women in Transportation by the Journal of Commerce.

The event is free and open to the public.
