Food Fight Bowl Bragging Rights on the Line

Food Fight Bowl fundraiser pits Easley against Pickens to see which school can raise the most money for Pickens County Meals on Wheels.

Editor's note: In the weeks leading up to the Food Fight Bowl fundraiser for Meals on Wheels on August 23, we'll be running guest editorials outlining reasons why you should support this worthy cause. Who's up this week? Terry Bradshaw!

My name is Terry Bradshaw -- I lost 30 pounds with my Nutrisystem diet. Now try that on for size! And don’t let some good looking spokesperson try to trump me with the same old argument: “We always win--don’t we? Always? That is besides the point.

What about how handsome I am with my boy-ish figure! And, by the way, I know that all females are better looking than I am. But, I did win four Super Bowl rings. Now, try that on for size, young lady!

But seriously, folks: Are you ready for some football? The sixth annual Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl is set for August 23rd at 8:00 PM in Easley. This will be the first meeting of these teams in the new stadium.

As usual, it will be a packed house, with bragging rights on the line. As usual, the game is important, but the cause is crucial. Pickens County Meals on Wheels serves shut-ins in Easley, Pickens, Liberty, Clemson, Six Mile, Central, Norris, and Dacusville and every golden corner. Pickens County Meals on Wheels counts on this event to help them serve about 250 shut ins, five days a week, all year long.

I have accomplished a lot after being chosen as the first pick in the 1970 draft. I have 4 Super Bowl wins; Super Bowl records, and more.
But, none of this would have happened were it not for my team mates solid and dependable play. They did this in all kinds of weather, with lots of other obligations and with everyone counting on them to be at the top of their game.

I could be talking about the Meals on Wheels volunteers that perform the same way, with the same consistent, smiling payback to the community. Now, that is worth a big “WOW”!!!

Please donate generously to the Sixth Annual Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl team of your choice. The students need you; the shut-ins need you; Meals on Wheels need you. Don’t sit on the bench this year.

Help by donating directly to www.pcmow.com or send a donation to P.O. Box 184, Easley, S.C. 29641. Specify which school you support.
