Fort Stewart Ceremony to Honor Pfc. Barrett Austin

A fallen soldier from Dacusville will be memorialized at a special ceremony at Fort Stewart later this week.

Fort Stewart Patch reports that a tree will be added to the Warrior's Walk at Fort Stewart in honor of Pfc. Barrett Austin.

Pfc. Austin died April 21 in Landstuhl, Germany, after being injured by an improvised explosive device April 17 in Wardak Province, Afghanistan.

Each tree in the Warrior's Walk honors a fallen 3rd Division soldier.

Austin was one of seven South Carolina soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice honored in Columbia at the Fallen Soldiers Ceremony hosted by Sen. Katrina Shealy last month.
