Local Dancers Earn High Honors at National Dance Competition

Easley Dance Conservatory students do well at national competition.

Students from Easley Dance Conservatory recently competed in Dance Machine Productions National Competition in Wilkesboro NC. Members from the Petite and Senior Companies participated in this competition.

Petite company member, Lillian Goodman, was awarded a Platinum for her solo “There’s A Place for Us”. Lillian also received a Bravo Award for her performance. Bravo Awards are given by the judges to routines that have “that extra special something” that sets them apart from the others.

Senior Company members competed in solos, duets, and groups. Karis Bass received a Platinum for her solo, “Use Somebody”. Renai Pesho received a Platinum for her solo, “Miss Otis Regrets”. Kelsey Smith, also a faculty member at Easley Dance Conservatory, received a Platinum for her solo “I’m Goin Down”. Madeline Goodman was awarded High Platinum for both of her solos, “I Gotcha” and “Words”. Madeline placed 15th overall with “I Gotcha” and 9th overall with “Words” in the Senior solo division. Madeline and Sarah Katherine Short received a High Platinum for their duet, “Coming Home” and placed 5th overall in the 13 and over duet/trio division.

Lillian was competing in the Mini Miss Dance division. Renai competed for America’s Teen Miss Dance and was awarded a preliminary interview award, the overall evening wear award and was a finalist. Madeline competed for America’s Miss Dance where she was a finalist and finished 3rd runner-up.

According to Artistic Director Suzanne Goodman, “This was one of the best National experiences we have had in a while. This group is young and they did an outstanding job at the National level!”

The Senior company will only be losing one member in the fall as Madeline Goodman heads to College of Charleston to double major in Dance and Marine Biology. “We are always open for new members to our company program.” stated Goodman.
