Museum Offering Adult, Children's Painting Classes

Classes begin in September and will be offered throughout the fall

The Pickens County Museum of Art & History is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Fall & Winter Studio Art Sessions beginning September 10th. The instructor for these classes, Renee Gillespie, has a Bachelor Degree in Art from Washington College in Chestertown, MD, and also studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.   

Adult Painting Class (session 1) - Tuesday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Sept 10, 17, 24, Oct 1, 8, 15, 2013 (6 weeks)

This Adult Painting Class is open to those who paint with acrylics or watercolors. Each Student will choose the subject of their painting and will receive individual instruction at each class. Instruction will be based on the painter’s skill level and beginning painters may begin with basic painting exercises. Students will provide their own supplies. Supply list, if needed, will be given at first class. Tuition for this class is only $88 ($78 for museum members). Pre-registration is required. Tuition must be paid prior to the first class. No refunds on tuition after start of class.

Children's Painting Class (Session 1) (Ages 8-12yrs) - Tuesday 3:30 pm - 4:45 pm

Children's painting skills will be encouraged as they look at and learn about different painting techniques. The children will then apply these techniques to various subjects to create their works of art. Supplies are included in tuition. Children should wear art class clothes.  Tuition for this class is only $88 ($78 for museum members). Pre-registration is required. Tuition must be paid prior to the first class. No refunds on tuition after start of class.

And as always you may register in person or by calling the Pickens County Museum at (864) 898-5963. Tuition may be paid by cash, check or charge.  Make check payable to the Pickens County Museum or call the Museum to use your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Classes will   be held at the Pickens County Museum, 307 Johnson Street in Pickens. Each class is designed and offered on a Six week session basis only, no individual selected week(s) option will be offered. Full Tuition must be paid before first class session. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled or filled. If class is cancelled all tuition will be reimbursed to registered student. No tuition will be reimbursed after start date of these classes.

Located at the corner of Hwy. 178 at 307 Johnson Street in Pickens SC, the Pickens County Museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. For more information please contact the museum at (864) 898-5963
