Palmetto Trust Director to Speak at Genealogical Society Meeting

Michael Bedenbaugh and the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation work to preserve important historic properties in South Carolina.

Michael Bedenbaugh, Executive Director of the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation, will be the guest speaker at the June 18 meeting of the Old Pendleton District Genealogical Society which will be start at 7 p.m. at the Central-Clemson Library on Highway 93 in Central.

Bedenbaugh, a Midlands preservationist, entrepreneur and history teacher, has long had a passion for historic properties and is working to increase the awareness and reach of the Palmetto Trust in South Carolina.

The Palmetto Trust is a non-profit organization and South Carolina's only statewide partner with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It provides education about our state's history and culture, by talking with individuals and groups in South Carolina communities that harbor historic properties in need of preserving.

In Pickens County, Bedenbaugh and the Palmetto Trust have been active in the preservation of the Bradley-Boggs House in Pickens, the old Hester Store and were among the voices calling for the preservation of the 1939 building of the former Easley High School.
