“Barrett Austin sacrificed his life protecting the United States of America,” the petition reads. “In return for his selflessness we should honor him by renaming the football stadium at Pickens High School Barrett Austin Memorial Stadium.”
“He was a good student,” Pickens High School Principal Marion Lawson told the Easley Progess last month. “He was always friendly, always ready with a smile and was always very polite and pleasant with his peers and teachers. Barrett was just a good all-around citizen here at Pickens High.”
