Pickens Baker to Compete for $250K Prize

Francine Bryson of Pickens has been chosen as one of 10 amateur bakers competing for a $250,000 grand prize and the title of Best Amateur Baker in America.

CBS announced Tuesday the names of 10 amateur bakers who will compete in a new reality series, "The American Baking Competition," and a Pickens woman has made the cut.

The cast was chosen through a nationwide search and Francine Bryson, 44, of Pickens is hoping to bring home the dough. Bryson says in her introductory video that cooking is her "sanctuary" and a "hobby turned obsession."

Contestants will compete in three challenges each week: “Signature Bake,” “Technical Bake” and “Showstopper Bake.” The best competitor each week is dubbed the episode's "Star Baker."
