Pickens County 4-H Adds Classes, Clubs

From rabbits to cattle to cooking and archery, the Pickens County 4-H program has lots to offer area youth this summer.

The Pickens County 4-H has lots to offer area youth this summer, from new classes and clubs to summer camps.

The Pickens 4-H is adding a summertime class -
Archery Shoot, 136 McGaha Rd, Easley
Ages 9-18
9am - 11 am
$10
Lean basic shooting techniques, practice shooting
Drinks and snacks will be provided. This will be an outdoor event so wear sun protection

Dinner and a movie July 22 6-9pm $10 Teens only
Enjoying the outdoors July 26-27 Ages 10-13 $15 (in Greenville)
Adventures in Science Camp July 10-Aug 1 Ages 9-12 (in Greenville)
Kids in the Kitchen July 30 and a seperate session on July 31st Ages 9-13 $15 per session (in Anderson)

Do you love rabbits? Join the 4-H Rabbit Club
Meetings wil be July 23, July 30, Aug 6, and Aug 13 from 6-7 pm
The first meeting will be at the Clemson Extension Service Office basement in Pickens
You can sign up at the first meeting if you have not done so already
There will be a rabbit project book available for $15 and it comes with a 4-H Rabbit book

Interested in Farming? The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association is looking for applicants (application is on the Pickens County 4-H website). There are scholarships available for those qualified. Deadline is August 26th.
There will be a workshop and visits to the Clemson University Student Organic Farm.

Love riding an ATV? The Pickens County 4-H along with the ATV Safety Institute will be offering prizes (top prize is $500) to three S.C entrants. Contest applications are due by August 6th in the Pickens 4-H office. So make that safety video for ATV's or dirt bikes and email it to jsutter@clemson.edu. and a complete set of rules and requirements will be emailed to you. Ages 6-18

There are still two weeks of 4-H summer camp left. The dates are July 29-August 2 and August 5-9. Ages 8-14 cost is $250 and will be at Camp Long in Aiken, SC.

A new club will be starting for ages 5-8. The Cloverbuds will meet once a month starting in September and will have a variety of things to introduce you to 4-H. The first meeting will be SEptember 12th from 6-7 pm in the basement of the extension office. This club is FREE to all Cloverbud 4-H members. If you would like to become a member of the 4-H there is a $10 cost and it comes with a t-shirt!! To sign up email Janine at jsutter@clemson.edu.
