This summer’s visitors to the museum will not only take great pride in the heritage displays on the Military that have served and sacrificed from Pickens County county, but also two very special exhibits especially for this program. From June 29 through August 15, the museum will host, “American Colors: Patriotism reflected in Art” featuring the work of artists submitting from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. On display at the same time will be “NAM ERA: Never Forgotten”, a photographic tribute by J. Michael Johnson. Under the guidance of the Pickens County Cultural Commission, the Pickens County Museum of Art and History is a public, non-profit educational institution, operated by the County of Pickens. The museum’s purpose is to collect, preserve and exhibit artifacts from the area and to teach the cultural history, natural history, and the arts of the County and the surrounding areas to provide cultural enrichment, intellectual stimulation and learning as well as enjoyment to the County’s citizens and visitors. The purpose of the museum is also to render assistance, whenever possible, to other museums and cultural institutions.
