Politifact to Duncan: You Lie

Politifact, the Pulitzer Prize-winning watchdog group has called a comment from Rep. Jeff Duncan “False.”

On July 10, Duncan’s Twitter account for his Congressional campaign, posted a statement that cited a poll showing 83 percent of doctors were considering leaving the profession as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as “Obamacare.”

The comment was shared across the Internet, according to Politifact.

However, the poll Duncan is referring to never specifically asked respondents about Obamacare.

Furthermore, Politfact has raised questions about the neutrality of the poll’s sponsor, the Doctor Patient Medical Association, a non-profit group based in Alexandria, Va.

In a statement published on its website, it refers to Obamacare as the “Destruction of Our Medicine.”

According to Duncan's office, Politifact contacted the office in regard to the tweet. Duncan's office had no response to Politifact, but a staffer told Patch that Duncan and his office feel that Politifact was “splitting hairs” over the tweet and the poll's methodology.

The office disagrees with how PolitiFact characterized the issue, the staffer said.

The tweet was one of several Duncan posted on July 10, including “Americans know that the government takeover of healthcare is wrong” and “#ObamaCare‬ was bad policy before the Supreme Court ruled, it's bad policy today, and it'll be bad policy tomorrow.”
