Safe Harbor Cycle Tour Raises $31,000

Safe Harbor’s Cycle Tour raised $31,000 for victims and their families of domestic violence. The bicycle event had a record number of 309 riders and featured the youngest rider who was four years old. The Cycle Tour was held in Iva, South Carolina on June 1st.

Riders started their day at 8am with a choice of three different rides: 25 miles, 42 miles and 62 miles throughout the countryside of Iva, Belton and Anderson. At the finish, all riders were treated to a hamburger and hotdog cooks out along with some cold drinks.

Safe Harbor helps victims of domestic violence, providing safe emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and community outreach and education in Greenville, Pickens, Anderson and Oconee Counties. Safe Harbor provides a continuum of services for victims, their children and he community at-large in order to alleviate the issue of domestic violence in the Upstate of South Carolina.

During 2012, Safe Harbor provided safe shelter to 400 victims of domestic violence and 226 children; answered 1198 crisis calls, offered 2,604 hours of counseling to victims, assisted 256 victims of domestic violence with obtain an Order of Protection, provided transitional housing to 91 people and reached 10,326 students through Safe Harbor’s Relationship Education Projects in area high schools.
