SC District 1 officials and players are confident the team will be in the Championship Game of the Big League World Series next Wednesday, and the team got off to a great start in their first game.
The host team defeated Southwest 15-5 Wednesday evening at the J.B. "Red" Owens Recreation Complex.
SC District 1 scored their first run in the first inning and added another 5 in the second inning.
Southwest rallied, scoring two runs in the third and 3 in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to stop District 1, who scored 7 runs in the fourth inning themselves.
Asia-Pacific scored their first victory in this year's series, defeating Europe-Africa.
Chinese-Taipei, who are appearing in their first Big League World Series this year and represent Asia-Pacific, earned a resounding victory, 13-2, over Germany, who are representing Europe-Africa.
Asia-Pacific earned their first run in the first and continued to score throughout the game.
Europe-Africa scored two runs in the fourth, leading them to trail 7-2, but the six runs scored by Asia-Pacific put victory out of reach.
