SDPC Brings Teachers to the Workplace

After spending time in local businesses and industries, teachers will share with their students the skills required in today's workplace.

The School District of Pickens County is excited to announce the Educators in the Workplace program to be held on August 1.

The school district plans to send about 50 teachers into various businesses in Pickens County from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

The mission for this event is for our teachers to share with students the expectations and skills required in today’s workplace.

The hosts are United Tool and Mold, JM Mold South, St. Jude Medical, AR Automation, Comatrol (Sauer-Danfoss), Baptist Easley Hospital, Cannon Memorial Hospital, Brooks Center, and Encore Technology Group.

These businesses range from large multi-national companies known worldwide to small independent businesses or governmental agencies, which make Pickens County a great place to live and work. All the host locations volunteered and are excited about this opportunity.
The goal is also to give teachers a better understanding of how the subjects they teach are used in today’s workplace and raise awareness of the technology that our area businesses expect students to be familiar with.

The plan is to continue to expand the event for the summer of 2014. If your business would like to participate in
2014, please contact Paula Alexander, Coordinator of Professional Learning, at 864-397-1071.
