Sheriff's Office Still Investigating Hotel Shootings
Two bodies found in Easley hotel room Saturday

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a shooting incident that left two people dead Saturday.
Motel cleaning staff at the Sun Inn, located at 4237 Calhoun Memorial Highway, discovered the bodies of Robert M. McPeak, Sr., 77, of Iva, and Cristy Ingram, 39, of Piedmont.
Autopsies performed this morning confirmed that each victim died of a single gunshot wound to to the head, according to Chief Deputy Creed Hashe.

A small caliber handgun was recovered from the scene, he said.
The sheriff’s office will be sending evidence collected from the scene and the autopsies to SLED for further analysis and evaluation.

Ballistic testing will be performed on the seized weapon to identify if it fired the shots that killed both victims.
The sheriff’s office is unable to provide an estimated time frame on when the results from the toxicology and forensics testing will be available, Hashe said.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to both families as they struggle to find peace out of such a senseless tragedy,” Sheriff Rick Clark said.
