Spaces Still Available for Sketchbook Class
The workshop will feature several sketchbook exercises to practice drawing skills and provide ideas for planning future, finished works of art.

The Pickens County Museum is pleased to announce registration is now open for three exciting new Summer Sketchbook Workshops to be held at the Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center (138 Hagood Mill Rd, Pickens, SC 29617).  Instructor for these workshops, Jo Johnston, worked as commercial artist for 30 years. A graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Tech, Jo has also taught drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting at Johnston County Community Technical College.

Pick a date and join us for a fun, 6-hour sketchbook workshop at the Hagood Mill! Surrounded by the site’s beautiful natural and historic setting, you’ll find a variety of interesting subjects for your sketchbook pages. The workshop will feature several sketchbook exercises to practice drawing skills and provide ideas for planning future, finished works of art. Students should bring a sketchbook suitable for dry and water media, drawing pencils, eraser, waterproof artist pens, a travel watercolor set, a folding travel chair, bottled water. Lunch not included, so bring a bag lunch. A sun hat and bug spray may also be helpful.

Tuition for each 6-hour workshop is $60 ($55 for museum members). Workshop designed for adults, age 18 years and up with a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 10 students. Pre-registration required. Class fees must be paid one week prior to workshop date. Check your summer calendar and sign up soon!

Tuition may be paid by cash, check or charge. Make check payable to the Pickens County Museum or call the Museum to use your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled or filled. If class is cancelled all tuition will be reimbursed to registered student. No tuition will be reimbursed after start date of this class.
Workshops will be held at the Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center, located at 138 Hagood Mill Road, Pickens, SC 29671 just 3 miles north of Pickens or 5 ½ miles south of Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy 11 off SC Hwy 178. Hagood Mill is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00am until 4:00pm, to tour the buildings and grounds and to visit the Mill Site Gift Shop.
