Summer Concert Schedule for Pickens Amphitheater

The City of Pickens will celebrate the completion of the first phase of its amphitheater project will a ribbon-cutting Saturday.

The ribbon-cutting will be held before the Young Appalachian Musicians take the stage Saturday night.

Construction began on the first phase of the amphitheater in January.

The first phase includes the amphitheater structure, paving the front parking lot, site cleanup, landscape, electrical work and decorative lighting.

The full project calls for an open-air pavilion, completion of the amphitheater, green space, parking areas and trails and boardwalks and an outdoor classroom space.

The amphitheater is being funded by a $2 million hospitality bond issued by the city for recreation projects.

The city and the Pickens Revitalization Association just concluded its Cruise-In and Music on Main Series, but there's plenty of events lined up for the amphitheater throughout the rest of the summer.

Derrick Dorsey will play on July 6.

Southern Crescent plays the amphitheater on July 13. The Young Appalachian Musicians will perform again on July 19.

On July 27, beach and R & B music legends The Tams will perform. The Tams were set to perform on the first night of this year's Azalea Festival, but forecasted storms forced the cancellation of the festival's Friday events.

The Tams are known for their hits “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy,” “Hey Girl Don't Bother Me,” “Untie Me” and “What Kind of Fool (Do You Think I Am).”

On August 2, the Trey Ward Band will play the amphitheater.

City Street Band performs on July 3.

Taylor Stewarts plays on August 10.

Bluegrass greats New Dixie Storm take the stage on August 17.

The Hired Help will play on August 24.

All of the summer series events will be held from 6-9pm.
