Tri-County Tech Road Race is Saturday

Anderson campus will host 5K Road Race and One Mile Fun Run.

Tri-County Technical College is holding its fourth annual Tri-County 5K Road Race and One Mile Fun Run Saturday, May 18, at 8 a.m. at its Anderson Campus. The race starts and ends at the Anderson Campus located at 511 Michelin Boulevard. Walkers and strollers are welcome.

The race is part of the S.C. Palmetto Grand Prix and the course is certified by the U.S. Track and Field Association. All proceeds will benefit the programs and services of the Anderson Campus.

Cash awards will go to the top three finishers in the 5K Open and Masters categories. Also, there will be age group awards for the top three finishers in each five-year category beginning with age 9 and under.

The overall male and female winner of the One Mile Fun Run will receive a medal.

Interested persons can get additional information and register online at www.tctc.edu/race. Online registration ends at noon on Friday, May 17, and walk-in registrations end at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18.

"This is our fourth year, and we are expecting another great event," said Tim Bowen, Anderson Campus director. “New this year is the One Mile Fun Run that we expect will appeal to a whole new group of people who simply want to take a healthy, brisk walk, make new friends and enjoy the excitement of a race-day environment.”

“We also have great door prizes, tech t-shirts and race-packs for the runners and walkers,” added Bowen.

The entry fee for the 5K Race is $20 for individuals not affiliated with the College. The fee increases to $25 for registrations received after May 13 and $30 on Race Day.

Employees, retirees, students or alumni pay an entry fee of $15 ($20 for registrations received after May 13 and $25 on Race Day).

Teams of ten or more pay $15 per person ($20 for registrations received after May 13 and $25 on Race Day).

Those wishing to participate in the One Mile Fun Run pay $10 per person ($12 for registrations received after May 13 and $15 on Race Day).

"We are fortunate to have community sponsors who help make this event possible," added Bowen. To date, sponsors include Michelin North America, Duke Energy and the Tri-County Technical College Alumni Association.
