Veteran Affairs Officer Advisory Election Cancelled
Only one candidate filed for position

Veterans, take note: the Veterans Affairs Officer Advisory Election slated for May 11 has been cancelled.
Pickens County Registrations and Elections Director Rodney Allen said that when filing closed earlier this month, only current Veterans Affairs Officer Martha Dorset, of Pickens, had declared a candidacy.
Since Dorset was the only one to file, the election has been called off.

Dorset was first elected as county Veterans Affairs Officer four years ago, beating eight other candidates for the position.
The scheduled election was advisory only. The Pickens County Legislative Delegation appoints the officer, usually abiding by the results of the advisory election.
