The Travelers Rest Tribune reports that one of the passengers was Jashaun Deck, 31, of Easley.
Deck was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run in Travelers Rest last October that left a women seriously injured, the paper reports.
According to the Tribune, a vehicle was waiting to turn onto Scruggs Road when a Mercedes went around it into oncoming traffic, striking a pickup truck.
Witnesses told police a black male exited the Mercedes, removed a small child from the back seat, then got into another car which had been following the Mercedes. That car then turned around and drove off.
Deck was identified as a suspect in the hit-and-run on October 21, 2012 and charged with hit-and-run resulting in great bodily injury, driving under suspension, habitual traffic offender, driving on the wrong side of a divided highway and failure to properly restrain a child.
Deck, who gave officers a fake name after the fatal accident Friday, has been served with warrants and was still being treated at Greenville Memorial Hospital Monday after posting a personal recognizance bond.
