Wren Students Recognized as Role Models

Several students from the Wren Area have been selected to receive 2013 Cory White Diversity Awards.

Three students from the Wren area have been recognized for being role models in advocating for their communities.

The Anderson County Human Relations Council recently announced several students would be presented with the 2013 Cory White Diversity Award.

Wren High School students Jennie Montgomery and Namik Patel have been nominated for the award.

Wren Middle School student Jackson Sanders was nominated for the award by his Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Shannon Goodacre.

The Cory White Award is presented annually to middle and high schools students from Anderson County schools who have served as role models in advocating for diversity and acceptance within the school community.  The award is intended to honor individuals who have positively affected peers, teachers, and/or school staff in the areas of human rights, special needs and disabilities, and/or cultural inclusion and acceptance.

The award ceremony will be held on 6pm Monday, April 22 at the Civic Center of Anderson. The ceremony includes dinner provided by the Human Relations Council, a motivational speaker and presentation of the awards.
