Rain has delayed work on the new park on Eastview Drive, and town leaders say heavy traffic from the Okra Strut Festival would damage the damp landscaping.
They voted unanimously Tuesday to hold the festival at Irmo Town Park and the streets surrounding it instead — the same location as last year's festival.
Council was considering Lake Murray Boulevard as an alternate location, but several business owners spoke out against that option, saying it would be detrimental to business.
