Riverbanks Zoo and Garden Honors Military with Free Admission
Where: 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia
When: Friday
Cost: Free to all military personnel; $10.75 for adult family members accompanying a veteran on Friday (military discount for anyone over 12 years old)
Info: Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is offering military personnel free admission on Veterans Day. To enter for free, military personnel must show their military ID. Adult family members accompanying a veteran on Friday can enter at a military discount rate of $10.75.

Gone But Not Forgotten 5K Run/Walk
Where: S.C. Midlands First Responders Memorial at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street
When: 2 p.m. Sunday
Cost: $25 (register today); $30 (day of the event)
Info: The Annual Gone But Not Forgotten 5K Run/Walk to honor firefighters who have lost their lives while serving their communities will be this Sunday. If you want to participate, register online on the Strictly Running web site. This is the first year for the event and is in honor of fallen firefighter Chance Zobel of the Columbia-Richland Fire Department who lost his life on Nov.13, 2010, while fighting a brush fire on I-20 near Clemson Road. The starting and finish line will be located in front of the S.C. Midlands First Responders Memorial at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street. Proceeds of the event will go to Salkehatchie Summer Service.

33rd Annual Veterans Day Parade
Where: Corner of Sumter and Laurel streets
When: 11 a.m. Friday
Cost: Free
Info: The City of Columbia is holding the 33rd Annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Columbia. Prior to the parade, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Sumter and Washington streets.
Return the Favor
Where: Columbiana Centre, 100 Columbiana Circle
When: Mall hours through Nov. 14
Cost: Free
Info: Columbiana Centre is hosting an Honor Wall outside of Belk during mall hours. The shopping center is asking the community to come take a photo in front of the wall to thank veterans and active military for their service. After you take the picture, upload it to the site, www.returnthefavor.org. For each photo posted, Columbiana Centre will donate $1 to the VFW Foundation.
