All Irmo Trash Collection Moving to Wednesdays

Town council voted to move all trash collection to one day a week.

Irmo residents will soon see neater neighborhoods and hear less noise from garbage trucks.

Town council members voted at their June council meeting to move all trash collection to one day per week — Wednesday.

"Right now, you can drive through Irmo and any day of the week you'll see garbage around in one portion of town or another," Town Administrator Bob Brown said. "By them coming in here and doing one swoop one day a week, everybody puts their stuff out on Wednesday, and all of it disappears on Wednesday."

Advanced Disposal, the company that collects trash in Irmo, will start the new schedule either the week of July 22 or 29, Brown said.

Pickup of recyclables will still be every other week, but will also move to Wednesday.
