The American Pickleball Tour Columbia Announces New Charity Partner
Habitat for Humanity is the official beneficiary for this 3-day event, which takes place Friday, July 19-Sunday, July 21.

The Columbia American Pickleball Tournament (APT) will be returning to the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, located at 1101 Lincoln Street in Columbia, for a 3-day event beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, July 19 and continuing through Sunday, July 21! APT is thrilled to announce its new charity partner - Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. They believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities.
“We are very proud to be partnering with a local nonprofit that helps people to realize their dream of home ownership,” said Aaron Del Mar, APT founder. “Habitat for Humanity is doing such important work in ensuring as many people as possible have a decent place to live.”
APT Columbia not only embraces the sport of Pickleball (a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong), but also enables players to connect with others and spend time with those who have similar interests during social events. These events will include Open Play for everyone on Thursday, July 18 beginning at 3 p.m. and after the tournament concludes on Sunday, July 21, APT will host a fun social gathering for all players and spectators alike to come eat, drink, and talk about “dinks”!

APT is the perfect first tournament for beginners, all the way to seasoned pickleball players; individuals ages 14 and older are welcome to participate. In addition to playing in a doubles and singles round robin format tournament, players can attend social gatherings throughout the weekend (some gatherings will require an additional fee), which include best dressed competitions, special evening events, city tours, and more! Those who don’t choose to compete are encouraged to take advantage of open play courts on Thursday afternoon or relax in the bleachers and cheer on their favorite players.
APT participants are encouraged to stay after the tournament and enjoy some sightseeing. Sites include Greek Revival architecture, Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, and the Columbia Museum of Art, which are all family-friendly places to explore while in the area.
