Authorities Arrest Man in St. Andrews Crime Spree

Jerome C. Bartley, 25, is accused of several crimes along St. Andrews Road.

A 25-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly committed several crimes in the St. Andrews area including strong armed robbery, the Richland County Sheriff's Department announced. 

Jerome C. Bartley, 25, is facing charges of armed robbery, burglary, strong armed robbery, and three counts of assault and battery, according to a release. 

Bartley was arrested around 10:30 a.m. by deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

Police say the spree began about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday morning when Bartley allegedly robs a truck driver of his potato chip truck at the Gaz Bah gas station at 800 St. Andrew’s Road.

Bartley then leaves the scene and parks the truck at the shopping center near the Display Center on St. Andrews Road.

Deputies say Bartley enters Tripp’s Fine Cleaners, and assaults and robs the clerk of an unspecified amount of money. 

Bartley then runs across St. Andrews Road to Tire Kingdom where he attempts to steal a man’s vehicle, the release said. 

Police say Bartley cut the driver of the vehicle in the neck with the box cutter before running away on foot.

The driver was transported to Palmetto Health for the injuries.

Bartley ran to the Hess Station located on the same road and assaults a woman for her Chevy pickup truck, according to the release. 

Bartley then drives to Raintree Apartments, parks the vehicle and runs to a home on Juneau Road where he assaults an 84-year-old woman. 

Deputies say Bartley stole jewelry and slippers from the home. 

The woman's neighbor, age 79, was allegedly punched in the face by Bartley when she tried to help the woman during the burglary. 

Both women suffered serious injuries and are being treated at Palmetto Health, the release said.  

Lexington County Sheriff’s deputies found Bartley on St. Andrews Road and arrested him.

Bartley was transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. 

Authorities say Bartley will face additional charges in Lexington County.
