Blind Runner Finishes California International Marathon Last Week
Amy McDonaugh, 34, of Irmo, was one of 18 blind runners to participate in the marathon this year, which is serving as the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes Marathon National Championships for the third year.

Completing her fifth marathon, Irmo native and mom of three Amy McDonaugh, 34, has much to celebrate.
McDonaugh finished the 2011 California International Marathon in 2:49:28.

McDonaugh was featured in an article in The Sacramento Bee on Dec. 3 and according to the story, she is completely blind in her right eye and has 23/100 vision in her left with no peripheral sight.

McDonaugh began running in her 20s, after having tagged along with her mom in a few 5Ks, she told the paper.
