Boating Safety Patrols Beefed Up on Lake Murray Saturday
Law enforcement agencies step up boating patrols on Lake Murray Saturday.

Boating safety patrols will be out in full force on Lake Murray Saturday for the Ducks Unlimited Lake Murray Poker Run festivities.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Lake Murray Marine Patrol is coordinating its efforts with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and Richland County Sheriff’s Department to ensure boaters obey the state's laws, including boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and maintaining required safety equipment on boats.
The poker run begins at 10:30 a.m. near the Dreher Shoals Dam, where S.C. 6 crosses Lake Murray, and end at the Lighthouse Marina, 1925 Johnson Marina Road, Chapin.

At 1:30 p.m., the S.P.B. Drag Boat Races are scheduled to begin. The boat drag racing event will be at the Rocky Creek on Lake Murray near the border between Lexington and Saluda counties.
